Microsoft Pricing Update: January 2022
Microsoft has recently announced an increase in their pricing, under their New Commerce Experience (NCE) model changes. This was implemented with a goal of providing their partners with more opportunities to increase purchases to a growing base of both existing and potential future customers. As of January 1st, 2022, commercial customers will no longer be able to purchase Microsoft services through the Open License program, but will instead have to purchase these services through one of their partners. Along with this, the price of Microsoft 365 will increase by an average of 15%, which is the first significant price release implemented by Microsoft in over a decade, but it reflects the value of innovation in the software.
What the Pricing Update Entails
The recent Microsoft pricing update does mean that you will see an increase on your invoice if you’re one of our current clients. These price increases will be implemented on March 1, 2022, and are detailed as followed for the Microsoft 365 plan:
- Business Basic, per license: Old rate – $5; New rate – $6
- Business Premium, per license: Old rate – $20; New rate – $22
- E3, per license: Old rate – $32; New rate – $36
- Office 365 E1, per license: Old rate – $8; New rate – $10
- Office 365 E3, per license: Old rate – $20; New rate – $23
- Office 365 E5, per license: Old rate – $35; New rate – $38
These prices will differ depending on if you want to purchase an annual license commitment, or prefer to have the flexibility of changing license each other. You will see a 20% price increase if you go with the latter option.
